A BILL
To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit the manufacture, possession, or transfer of any part or combination of parts that is designed and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but does not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
Tell me that the people in Congress are not that fucking stupid…… This will not only ban bump fire stocks but, bipods, all grips, any type of rest or shooting aide, red dot sights, halo sights, slings and almost anything else placed upon a semi-automatic rifle…. Hell even a sandbag could be ruled as a device to function to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle. YOU WILL HAVE TO BAN FINGERS! The original bump fire method was done by putting your finger in your pocket and using it to do what the stock does. So all shooters of semiautomatic rifles will have to have pocket-less clothes? Shoot naked?
A bipod or rest could be ruled by the BATF to increase the rate of fire, since the rifles recoil is controlled and even reduced for a faster follow up shot. Therefore designed and functions to increasing the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle. A forward handgrip also allows for a faster follow up shot by providing a stable platform… Again this is designed and functions to increase the rate of fire to a semiautomatic rifle. Red dot and halo sights, allow for less time to make sure of sight alignment of iron sights allowing a faster follow up shot, therefore designed and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle. A sling can be used to stabilize a rifle for a firmer grip which is designed and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle. See how easy it will be for the BATF to now classify all weapon accessories as unlawful?
Why stop at rifles, you idiots in Congress know that a handgun can also be bump fired as well? Guess we ban all semiautomatic handguns as well.
I guess the fact that it was already illegal to kill people is over looked by the idiots in Congress. Another law or ban will not prevent another mass shooting. Ban bump stocks and the guy will make his own or modify the rifle to shoot automatic… yes that can be done to ANY semiautomatic weapon. Handguns and rifles alike. You cant stop evil people from doing evil things….. The scumbag in Las Vegas broke a ton of laws doing what he did and those laws did not stop it. Tragic as this shooting was banning bump stocks or other accessories will not prevent another tragedy. Perhaps if someone close to that scumbag had notices the signs that he was losing it, that may have been the only way to stop this or another tragedy from happening. But in this self-absorbed era that we live in I doubt that will happen.
